Barbados

Bajan culture and an idyllic coast

Barbados luxury holidays

Introduction

While Barbados is one of the most popular Caribbean islands, it still retains a distinct character and wonderfully laid-back atmosphere – it's resolutely West Indian. And, while the beaches are, of course, brilliant – they're among the Caribbean's best, in fact – it's the sheer variety of other attractions that set this island idyll apart.

A spectacular coast

On the coast, there's the chance to swim, dive, kite surf or simply relax on the sand on the sheltered south and west coasts. The island also serves up some superb diving, with Carlisle Bay, near the capital Georgetown, harbouring some 200 wrecks, waiting to be explored. Then, in the capital itself, you'll discover a wealth of history, uncovered in the superb Barbados Museum or nearby Garrison area.

Another side to island life

Head inland  to explore the limestone hills and discover the real Barbados and Bajan culture. Visit seventeenth century plantation houses and botanical gardens, listen out for calypso rhythms and sample real Bajan rums and you'll get an idea of what makes the country tick. Whichever side of Barbados you want to discover, our specialists will be on hand to tailor you the perfect Caribbean island escape.
