Location
Idyllically located on Costa Rica’s Papagayo Peninsula, overlooking the azure waters of the country’s Pacific coast, this off-the-grid eco-lodge offers away-from-it-all luxury in a truly spectacular setting. Here, amid 123 acres of pristine wilderness, is a rare chance to reconnect with nature while enjoying the very best in fine dining, first-class service and fabulous, tented accommodation.
Accommodation
With just five tented suites, the lodge feels wonderfully exclusive. Indeed, with such an expansive setting, you’ll often feel like you have the whole place to yourself. Dotted throughout the grounds, each ‘tent’ offers a unique view and experience, with large private decks, complete with lounge chairs and hammock, looking out across bird-filled forests to the Pacific Ocean beyond – perfect for watching the sun set. Inside, expect dark-wood flooring, super-king-sized beds and floor-to-ceiling windows, again making the most of those gorgeous wilderness views. The en-suite bathrooms are equally impressive, with free-standing tubs, indoor and outdoor rain showers and twin sinks.
Dining
Fine food and drink is central to a stay here and dishes have an emphasis on the flavours of Latin America, due in no small part to the influence of Argentinian head chef Guillermo. As you’d expect, there’s a strong emphasis on local organic produce, with much if not all of the fruit and vegetable sourced from local farms. And, while meals are typically served in a long cabana overlooking the golden sands of Laguna Beach, there are also options for more secluded dining experiences, either with breakfast on your tent’s deck or at the hilltop Chef’s Table.
Activities
With a focus on wellbeing and the natural world, guests are invited to enjoy a whole range of experiences that make the most not only of the setting but of the chance to absolutely disconnect from daily life. These include everything from yoga and culinary classes to surfing, hiking and even tree climbing. Of course, you might simply want to relax, and the resort’s gorgeous gold-sand beach is perfect for doing just that.
