This is your chance to walk in the footsteps of some of history’s most famous composers, and you even have the chance to conduct your own orchestra if you’re a classical music aficionado. If not, Vienna has no shortage of museums, palaces, and other historic landmarks to visit. Dürnstein, Melk & cruising Wachau Valley
Spend the morning in Dürnstein, famous for its blue and white abbey tower and medieval city walls. Foodies will enjoy the region’s local delicacy—sweet apricots—and wine enthusiasts should sample the delicious local whites. If you’re feeling active, hike to the castle ruins overlooking the river. You can also soar to new heights on a spectacular helicopter ride for jaw-dropping views of the Wachau Valley.
Cruise the Wachau Valley, arriving in Melk in the late afternoon. The main attraction here is Melk Abbey, which Benedictine monks still call home today. You can also visit the Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand Museum auf Castle Artstetten nearby. Alternatively, indulge your taste buds with a foodie tour or break a sweat on an afternoon cycling tour.

Linz & Salzburg
Dock in Linz and choose to stay here or head to Salzburg. Linz is Austria’s third largest city, famous for its Main Square, old town centre, the Mariendom (which holds up to 20,000 worshipers), and the Schloss Museum, all of which you can explore on a city walk. Cyclists have two options: an easy panoramic city ride or a more unique city tour followed by a visit to an air raid bunker. Hikers can ascend the Pöstlingsberg, a Linz landmark.
Alternatively, take a scenic drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Salzburg to enjoy a full-day “Mozart’s Salzburg” tour, learning about the composer and Salzburg’s highlights. View the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the manicured Mirabell Gardens at Mirabell Palace, Salzburg Cathedral where Mozart was once appointed organist, the Old Market Square, and more.

Bratislava
Bratislava holds much appeal because of its pedestrianised city centre, which makes it easy to explore on foot. Plus, the food, wine, and beer scene is much-loved by locals and visitors alike. Take a leisurely walking tour, get your fill of the beer scene on a beer tasting, or view modern art at the Danubiana Museum. Today’s cycling adventure brings you to the ruins of Devin Castle, one of the oldest in Slovakia with written mentions dating back to 864AD.

Esztergom is famous for its basilica, the largest church in Hungary and home to the country’s seat of the Catholic Church. You can explore the basilica in-depth today as you marvel at its impressive scale, sacred art collection, and wondrous treasures. To connect with your active side, take a scenic cycling tour around the city’s surrounds for gorgeous views, or hike the Visegrad Citadel, one of the most photographed sites of the so-called Danube Knee. If you want to see the fortress ruins without the hike, this is an option as well.
