From the city of St.John's to the colonial ports and fishing villages along the northern shores. Journeying along the rugged coastlines of Labrador is complimented by the grandeur of Gros Morne National Park, and the incredible experience of viewing icebergs and whales up close.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1
UK to St.John's

Today, enjoy complimentary lounge access at the airport before flying via Halfiax to St John’s, Newfoundland. On arrival, collect your rental car and make your way to your centrally-located hotel, set near the waterfront. Take some time this evening to wander the historic main street, perhaps pausing for a drink in a tavern or contemporary bar. Return to your hotel to relax in its cosy rooms.

Day 2
St, John's

A full day to explore St.John's with its proud Canadian Maritimes heritage. Perhaps visit Signal Hill National Historic Park at the entrance to the city's deep natural harbour, featuring preserved battlements from the earliest colonial days of Canada.

Days 3-4
St.John's to Trinity

Today travel north through the iconic inlet villages of Clarenville and North West Brook, boasting the classic colours and architecture of the Canadian Maritimes. Take time to stop and visit or enjoy a delicious lunch from local fare. The local towns and villages offer a glimpse into the islands past, such as the weather-beaten fishing houses of the small town site of New Bonaventure. The echoes of the 19th century still ring in the steeple of St. Paul's Anglican Church of Trinity, just as the English Arts Harbour Centre celebrating traditions and music of the island.

Days 5-6
Trinity to Twillingate

Today drive through Terra Nova National Park on the way to the northern shores of the island. Stop for lunch in Gander half way to the waterside community of Twillingate.

Next day embark on a two-hour narrated tour in search of icebergs and whales on a true Newfoundland adventure. Explore Iceberg Alley and marvel at 12,000 year old Greenland Icebergs on their epic journey from the Arctic Circle to Newfoundland and beyond. Hear the ice crack under the Newfoundland sun. Observe humpbank whales as they feed in Twilliingate's coastal waters and watch elegant seabirds frolic along the coastlines.

Day 7
Twillingate to Gros Morne National Park

This morning cross the top of the island through small communities, make a stop at the colourful village of South Brook, before continuing and passing through the gates of Gros Morne National Park to reach the coast and your overnight stop at Rocky Harbour. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is 1805 square kilometres of sheer natural beauty, made up of majestic fjords and mountain peaks rising above sprawling beaches and forests. The Tablelands are a highlight – rocky plateaus that, around 500 million years ago, were part of the ancient ocean floor. There's plenty to do here, from gentle hiking trails to more challenging scrambles, or simply relaxing on the beach.

Days 8-9
Rocky Harbour to L'Anse au Claire

Today head to the north coast of the island's 'finger' peninsula where it narrows against the Labrador coast, creating the Gulf of St. Lawrence. A short ferry ride across the mouth of the bay reveals the untamed beauty of the eastward Atlantic Ocean. It continuously carves the shoreline.

The shores of Labrador are some of the most untamed, open-water shorelines in North America. Once a centre for whaling in the 19th century, the area is now a centre for historical and eco-tourism. Perhaps take a trip to Red Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that preserves some of the buildings and equipment essential to the European whaling industry at its height.

Days 10-11
L'Anse au Claire to St.Anthony

A short ferry ride across to the island begins the day, before crossing to St. Anthony. an early arrival gives the chance to explore the local amenities of this small village at the northern edge of Newfoundland. No trip is complete without an afternoon at Fishing Point Municipal Park. This coastline is famous for iceberg watching into the early summer, its iconic square lighthouse overlooking the waters. Local restaurants serve up local fare, making it the perfect place to spend the day.

Day 12
St. Anthony to Cow Head

A return trip along the southern shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence gives you another chance to visit the small coastal villages that populate the route. In Cow head, take some time and lounge on Shallow Bay Beach - the white sands and clear waters inviting all visitors to spend some time under the sun.

Day 13
Cow Head to Gander

Today cross the heart of the island to the riverside small city of Gander - a community celebrating its rich aviation history and ideal central location. The airport museum display the town's relation both to the earliest days of Canadian aviation, and later its importance as a flight staging area during World War 2.

Days 14-15
Gander to St.John's to UK

Today your Newfoundland and Labrador experience comes to an end with a drive back to St. John's International Airport. Fly home from St John's, arriving in the UK on Day 15.
